And the Webby Goes To...Prince?

From the list of phrases you never thought you'd hear: musical performer Prince will be receiving a lifetime achievement award. The Webby Awards committee recently announced that Prince will receive the award because of his devotion to the Internet to distribute his music.

According to a press statement, "long before MySpace and iTunes, Prince used the Web as a new way to distribute music, premiere videos and build his relationship with his fans." Prince now has 7 full-length CDs exclusively available on his website.Still, giving Prince a lifetime achievement award? Oh well, I guess if he really helped pave the path for iTunes, I should be grateful. The Webby Awards, which will be hosted by comedian Rob Corddry, will take place on June 12 in Manhattan, where all the guests I'm sure will be partying like it's 1999.
