If you're planning on heading out to Best Buy in the next couple months to buy a 42" flat-panel LCD, you may want to wait around a little bit until next year -- not just because it'll give you an extra 12 months to figure out how to deduct it on your taxes, but also because it may end up saving you several hundred dollars. That's what LG and Sharp are saying, at least.
"Last year we saw about 30 percent of price reductions for plasma and a little bit more for LCD. Next year, in 2007, we expect about the same," said a top marketing honcho for LG. The Sharp guys expect about a 20% reduction on LCD TVs.Sharp's president went on to say that the most dramatic price drops would be for TVs that aren't necessarily all that decked out. "But for full-specification, high-resolution sets — due to limited supply compared with demand — we don't see that big a drop," he said.
