Benchmarks

Platforms
The Lego Indiana Jones 2 The Adventure Continues game is available on most every platform around and comes from LucasArts. The version I am testing is for the PS3 and it is available on the PSP, Wii, DS, Windows, and Xbox.

Game Play
The Lego Indiana Jones 2 The Adventure Continues game is very similar to the first game in many respects. You get to play several characters including Indy as you progress through the game. Each character has their own attributes and certain characters are needed to be able to complete certain levels. The levels of the game are varied and come from different films in the series and are tons of fun to play.

The game isn’t some thoughtless smash and shoot like others on the market. You have to think your way though many of the levels offering fun and challenges for players old and young. The graphics are very good and the soundtrack has the Indy music and effects that we expect in an Indiana Jones game.

Some of the cut scenes are funny and they all lend a very movie like quality to the game, albeit a blocky Lego movie. The controls are very easy to use and master for both the new gamer and the experienced gamer. My absolute favorite thing about Lego Indiana Jones 2 The Adventure Continues is that it supports coop play with two players.

My 8-year-old son and I spent hours fighting our way through the levels together and had tons of fun. Each player gets to take the reins of one of the characters on the screen. The coop game play has one issue that bothered us on a few occasions though. The way LucasArts programmed the game when the two characters are close together; there is no split screen, which I very much like.

If one character wanders too far from the other a split, screen mode is launched. What we found is that when one player gets too far away from the other it is impossible to see all sides of obstacles in your way. For instance in the warehouse level we often ended up having to leave coop mode and go single player just so we could see the crates we were supposed to jump on after one player fell off the crates and ended up far away from the other. The screen simply would not rotate to a view that would let us find a way out.

Luckily, you can leave coop mode and enter it as frequently as you want with no issues. Other than the issue with the coop play, we noticed no other problems with the game and it is lots of fun. The game was my sons first introduction to the Indiana Jones franchise and he loved it and wants to see the movies now. The game goes through many different levels each with a goal and areas to explore. There is lots of fun to be had here and a lot to like about the Lego Indiana Jones 2 The Adventure Continues game.

Verdict

Conclusion

The Lego Indiana Jones 2 The Adventure Continues game is one of my favorite games for the PS3.
