Sony announces the delay of the Sony PS3 in Europe. We talk a serious delay: March 2007 - I nearly had to puke reading this.
Sony cites production issues with the PS3. Specifically the blue laser diodes shortage for the Blu-ray drive is mentioned. All PAL regions which include Europe, Russia, the Middle East, Africa and Australasia will have to wait for the PS3 until March 2007.
After getting over this shock, what to do next? I am not going to wait until March 2007. Today all Japanese game exporter sites are for sure celebrating. Play Asia and Lik-Sang will make a fortune selling Japanese PS3 consoles to eager European Sony PS3 fans including myself.
I already have made a down payment for a PS3 at a large German Electronics retailer. I will have to get that money back and go order a PS3 in Japan or the US.
The launch of the PS3 in the United States on November 17th and in Japan on November 11th are supposed to be still on. Expect shortages, if Sony already has to go to this extreme measures of canceling the European PS3 launch.
Read the Playstation 3 delay announcement yourself on the European Playstation site.
