GamesIndustry.Biz scored some information from retailers in the UK about how Microsoft will sell the HD DVD drive for the Xbox 360.
The price for the stand-alone HD-DVD drive is supposed to be GBP 199 (~$371 or 293 Euro) including 2 HD-DVD movies. The Brits always have to pay more for stuff and considering the weak dollar, I guess it is save to say that the Xbox 360 HD-DVD price is going to be below $300. Which is still not really a bargain if you ask me? It should be $200. Not sure if MS can go that low.
Microsoft may also offer a Xbox 360 Premium bundled with a HD-DVD for less then GBP 400 (~$746, 589 Euro) says GamesIndustry.Biz. A Xbox 360 Premium sells for GBP 274.99 right now on Amazon UK. So there seems to be some saving in this Xbox 360 package.
If you already own a Xbox 360 you can only comfort yourself that you get 2 HD-DVD movies.
With the Xbox 360 HD DVD bundle Microsoft is of course torpedoing the Sony PS3 which has the Blu-ray drive integrated. On the other hand, MS has no competition from Sony in Europe this Holiday season.
