Today I am going to look at the Insignia LittleBuddy Child Tracker. This GPS tracker can be used to track other things too like cars and equipment if you want. If you are parents that want to know, where your kids are at all times this device may be perfect for you.
Available on Best Buy.
Features
The Insignia LittleBuddy has built-in GPS receiver and requires a tracking service that is a paid feature after the first 30 days. The device ships with a USB cable for charging and stickers for kids to decorate the outside. The Insignia LittleBuddy is available in green or blue colors for $99.99.
In Use
The Insignia LittleBuddy is a small device that is about the size of a pocketknife or slightly larger than your average flash drive. The battery lasts about four days per charge and the only way to charge it is via USB. A wall charger would be nice too.
To use the device all you need to do is activate it at the Insignia LittleBuddy website. An email address is required for sign up. The email address is required to get the link to activate the service. The first 30 days of the mapping service are free and it is full featured.
The service allows you to track the child or whatever you are tracking on a map in real time. You can set up all sorts of alerts with the device that lets you get texts when the child gets to a specific area. That means you can set up an alert to tell you when your kid gets home or you can set up alerts to tell you if they travel outside of a specified area.
The bad news is that after you fork over $100 to but the Insignia LittleBuddy you have to pay for the service on a monthly basis or on a per search basis. The monthly service is $15 each month and a per search feature is $.99 per search.
The search service is interesting and you can throw the thing in a car too. I guess you nefarious types can use the LittleBuddy to keep tabs on a spouse or significant other that you are questioning too. You could also toss one into a laptop bag to help find lost or stolen equipment. The LittleBuddy is easy to use and works well.
Pros
Cons
Verdict
The Insignia LittleBuddy is a cool device that will let you track anything you want to keep an eye on from your mobile phone or the internet. The only downside is the service costs $15 per month after the first month or two.
