Today I am looking at the new Logitech Laptop Speaker Z205. This small speaker system is designed to clip onto a laptop screen and provides better sound than the integrated speakers provide. The Logitech Laptop Speaker Z205 is a nice little speaker, read on for all the details.
Specifications
The Logitech Laptop Speaker Z205 measures 2.52" H x 7.09" W x 1.35" D. It connects to the computer via USB port and works with Windows and Mac systems. The Z205 ships with the speaker, USB cable, and travel case for $39.99.
In Use
The Logitech Laptop Speaker Z205 is a cool looking little speaker bar. It has a pair of speakers inside the glossy black and silver case to provide stereo sound for music and VoIP calls. The little carry case is just a bag with a drawstring at the top for closing.
To attach the Logitech Laptop Speaker Z205 to your notebook you just pry the clamp on the bottom of the speaker open, set it on your LCD and let the clamp close. The speaker stays in place and doesn’t vibrate or cause any issues with using the computer during playback.
No drivers are needed on Windows machines and all I had to do to get the speakers working was plug them into a vacant USB port, wait a few seconds, and enjoy the sound. The sound quality from the speakers is average and does sound better than the speaker system on my netbook and most of the notebooks I have tested lately. The system has little bass to speak of, but offers plenty of volume for movie watching and listening to music.
I was disappointed to see that the clamp on the small speaker bar won’t open enough to clamp onto my desktop monitor. This small and compact speaker would be welcome for a desktop computer user looking to take up less space .The USB cable that is included with the speaker is a bit too short for my tastes. It is about three feet long, which should be plenty for most notebook users. If you have a large screen notebook, you might find the cable a tight fit. However, the cable is a standard mini USB to USB unit like the one you would use with a PlayStation 3.
Pros
Cons
Verdict
The Logitech Laptop Speaker Z205 is a nice speaker bar that offers a worthwhile upgrade to most notebooks even if the bass is weak for my tastes.

Anytime RAW goes vintage, I go vintage. Tonight, WWE is going not-really-but-still-a-little old school with the reappearance of HBK. Whilst I heart HBK very, very much, I’m not too keen on his arrival. It only means more Taker/HHH drama. The only way I’m ...
