Benchmarks

Specifications
The AluStand consists of two "Z" shaped risers and plastic pieces that help them hold together. The stand measures 247 x 267 x 128mm assembled. The AluStand sells for 29,99 EUR including taxes.

In Use
The AluStand is an attractive little device that looks like it was made to match a Mac. The stand will work with any notebook, but it is best suited for 12" to 16" notebooks. The stand raises the screen up by about four inches and the plastic middle piece has a flat rear edge to keep a keyboard in place.

If you use an external keyboard for your notebook all you need to do at the end of the day is put the keyboard in the open section of the "Z" where the plastic ledge on the rear of the centerpiece will keep the keyboard tucked away. The stand is very easy to assemble and needs no screws or hardware to put it together.

The "Z" ends are made from aluminum and the AluStand is very lightweight overall. The only real downside to the stand is that the "Z" shaped ends are about an inch thick. You can nest them some way if you want to store the AluStand or carry it with you, but it adds a lot of bulk to your bag.

I really like the AluStand; it raises the screen of your notebook significantly. Unlike other stands, you will want to use the AluStand with an external keyboard. Rather than simply angling the rear of the notebook into the air, the keyboard, screen and all are elevated with the AluStand. That gives the screen a bit more height and allows storage for a keyboard. If you don’t want to use an external keyboard, the AluStand might not be for you.

Verdict

Conclusion

Pros

  • Well built
  • Attractive
  • Keyboard storage
  • Lots of screen lift

Cons

  • Bulky for taking with you on the road

Verdict
The AluStand is an attractive notebook stand that is best suited to the user who won’t travel with it much and prefers an external keyboard. It will work with a wide range of notebooks and is a very nice stand.

It’s convenient that Brent is hovering just above $100/b right now – the main international benchmark for oil perfectly dissects the price band that we’ve actually been living with for the past two years: a $50-150/b spread. It’s never been an is ...
