NVIDIA Says No to G80 Overclocking?

The Inq is reporting that NVIDIA has put the kibosh on overclocking for the upcoming G80 based graphics cards. Supposedly this stems from the issues that several of the NVIDIA partners had with overheating on the 7900 GT’s that were clocked higher than reference.

However, I am not sure how much stock you can put in this report, the story goes on to say overclocking of the 7950 GX2 wasn’t allowed and I happen to be the proud owner of an XFX 7950 GX2 XXX that is overclocked.Personally, I expect we will see the likes of XFX with overclocked cards, perhaps not BFG and EVGA but you never know. I have one of the infamous overclocked 7900 GT’s from XFX and have never had one day’s trouble out of it.
