AMD is launching today their 4x4 platform, which consists of two AMD 64 FX processors on a two CPU socket motherboard using the Socket F platform. The new FX series CPUs are the FX-70, FX-72 and the FX-74.

The FX-70 runs at 2.5 GHz, the FX-72 is 2.8GHz and the FX-74 is 3.0GHz. All the new CPUs are on the 90nm process. All three new FX models use three HyperTransport links per CPU whereas the FX-62 only has one HyperTransport link.The CPUs have 512kb L1 cache, 256k per CPU and 4MB of L2 cache with 2mb per CPU. Pricing is for a pair of the CPUs and is set at $599 for the FX-70, $799 for the FX-72 and $999 for the FX-74.
