It is official. Sony announced today that the Sony PS3 will be launched in Europe on March 23rd. The rumors have an end. Forgotten is the pain of the European Sony PS3 delay announcement from September 2006.
The Sony Playstation 3 will be launched in the PAL territories of Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Australasia on 23rd March 2007 at a price of EURO 599 (GBP 425, AUD 999.95, NZ 1199.95), (~$776).
Only the premium 60GB Sony PS3 will be available in Europe at launch.
Now that the 20GB Sony PS3 has HDMI, I do not see that of a strong reason to have to get the 60GB, unless you want Wi-fi and the card reader. To give Europeans no choice is a strange move.
There will be 1 million 60GB Sony PS3 available in Europe and other PAL territories at launch.
Check Amazon UK and Amazon DE for the Sony PS3 60GB.
There will be 30 PS3 games available at launch including: Resistance: Fall of Man, MotorStorm, Genji™: Days of the Blade, FORMULA ONE CHAMPIONSHIP EDITION and Ridge Racer 7. See the full European PS3 Game line-up below.
