Since the dust has settled after the Sony PS3 launch last November I started to feel that the Sony PS3 did not deliver on Sony's promises. For me the only good points right now are the Blu-ray drive and that the games look neat in HD, but game play is not that much different from playing PS2 games.
The pressure on Sony is mounting to deliver games that are leveraging the magic powers of the CELL CPU. Several negative Sony PS3 reports appeared over the last couple of days that put their finger in different PS3 wounds. See examples of negative Sony PS3 headlines below.
I understand it takes time to get a complex product like the Sony PS3 out and into full gear. Sony is also busy now to get the European launch of the Sony PS3 on the way. Late January Sony announced Cellius, which is sure a step into the right direction. It looks like Sony needs to do even more for game developers to make sure killer PS3 games appear sooner than later. I am also not sure if I miss something here. If you know about an upcoming PS3 game that will turn the table, please email me.
As long as Sony is not talking trash and is providing a roadmap to where the PS3 is heading the perception of the Sony PS3 is hopefully improving again to a level that it should deserve. Sony's Harrison had some things to say to PS3 critics at the DICE summit, that are ok but also not helping much.
I also do not support the whole Sony PS3 price-cutting discussion. Cutting the price does not help at all in my opinion. If Sony Fanboys can show their neighbors a game on the Sony PS3 that puts their socks off, the neighbors are putting the cash down the next second at the next Best Buy.
