As reported last week the Flipstart is about to ship (first appearance 2004!). Rob Enderle from Digital Trends takes a look at the OQO 02 and the Flipstart ultra portable windows XP PCs.
The article points out that OQO is founded by former Apple people who worked on the Apple Titanium notebook. Flipstart backed by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen is of course all Microsoft. These heritages show in the product design pretty strongly.
The price-point of close to $2,000 for these 6 inch UMPCs is just too high by all means. They need to get closer to $1,000 ASAP, unless they want to get beaten up by new versions of the recent UMPC entries of Samsung, Asus, Vega or TabletKiosk.
