Real Madrid soccer star Ronaldo was doing some gadget modeling for BenQ Mobile who sponsored the Real Madrid team. Apparently he did not get paid yet and BenQ mobile is bankrupt.
Real Madrid has still to play with BenQ Mobile shirts until July. BenQ Mobile owes about 1.2 billon Euros (~$1.6 billon) to about 4,000 entities (mostly former employees). Ronaldo is one of creditors. His lawyer hopes to get 20% of the money owed from Ronaldo’s mobile phone endorsement contract.
I am sure Ronaldo will survive without the BenQ mobile money, others are not so lucky. More details on Bild (German).
The pressure on BenQ mounts that they will have to cover for the losses of their mobile unit. More details on the latest developments around the BenQ mobile bankruptcy on PC World.
