After a fervent release week for the PS3, sales of the console fell by more than 80% for the following seven-day period.
According to sales trackers, about 165,000 PS3 units were sold within the first 48 hours of being released in the UK. However, during all of last week, only about 20,000 were sold. Supply is still readily available. It's quite a bit different from the insanity that ensued after the PS3 launched in the US.I guess we should all rejoice in the fact that there wasn't another surge in EUR2,000 PS3s on eBay like in November. Perhaps UK gamers just not as excited with the PS3, or perhaps the pushed back release date just made it less of a must-have item right at launch.
