Sony introduced the BRAVIA Theatre RHT-G800 TV stand (photo below) with integrated 5.1 surround speakers last week at the Sony Media Experience. Researching the new Plasma TVs Pioneer announced today in Japan, I stumbled over the Pioneer B-07 AV rack (photo )that also features integrated speakers as well as a rather similar design.
A closer look reveals that the Pioneer B-07 only incorporates the front speakers into the TV-stand. You need the HTP-07 surround sound system in addition to achieve 5.1 surround sound.
Sony's TV-Stand has all speakers and the amplifier inside the rack.
I have experienced the RHT-G800 first hand at the Media Experience. The Sony S-Force PRO Front Surround simulation works decent. The overall sound is clear, but the sub woofers are not massive enough for a true home cinema experience.
The Sony RHT-G800 is available from May. For the Pioneer B-07 no release date outside of Japan is available.
See the Sony RHT-G800 press-release and the Pioneer B-07 product page (Japanese).
