Research In Motion (RIM) gave finally some explanation why its Blackberry email service failed Tuesday evening until Wednesday morning.
RIM blames a new system routine that was supposed to optimize the cache had an unexpected impact on the system and triggered a chain reaction of errors that brought the service down.
RIM has about 8 million subscribers. An outage like this really has a huge impact on business. Good thing the main outage time was during the night.
