European TVs are haunted by weird Sony PS3 ads featuring characters like Bubba, Cherry or Hotdog and Lucia who stay at a hotel somewhere and try to explain us what living is.

TBWA London came up with this multi-media advertising campaign. TBWA aimed at creating something new and innovative that is both relevant to the product and the audience of entertainment enthusiasts who spend their time downloading entertainment, building play lists, blogging and networking online. TBWA incorporated Flickr to distribute photos of Cherrie and placed avatars from the characters on Second Life. Using all channels is sure the way to go. For me the whole story was just too boring and weird to get into. The only thing that stuck is Cherrie sitting on the John.

Now the whole short film (5min:48s) is online for your viewing pleasure.
Watch the film on the This is Living site (neat fullscreen streaming).

The film is narrated by Bubba the receptionist of a surreal hotel referred to as ‘Paradise’ and is based upon intertwining lives; Lieutenant Kovac, the orphaned mercenary; Bruce Leghorn, quiz show legend and the very definition of self obsession; Cherry, naïve but with the ambition to take on the world; Keji, the enigmatic figure who never speaks; Plato, the world famous centre forward and finally Hotdog and Lucia, the passionate, romantic criminals.
