Vortech Corvette Z06

Many a corvette Z06 owner has probably thought after they sprinted from 0-60 in 3.9 seconds that the Z06 just isn’t fast enough. For those Z06 owners out there that feel that way Vortech, the super charger guys, are stepping up with a blown Z06 that just might be fast enough for you.

The V-2 SQ supercharger Vortech has designed for the Z06 puts out 6psi of boost. The SQ designation means “Super Quiet” shedding the whine associated with most superchargers. After all, you don’t want to stand out in your $65,000 car known far and wide, as one of the fastest on the road because of blower whine do you?

The Vortech kit runs $6695 in satin finish and $6995 in polished form and includes all you need for installation. The result of the supercharger are impressive, a Z06 put on the dyno wearing this kit put out 635 hp on 91-octane pump fuel and the kit is smog-legal in 50 states.

On the strip, Motor Trend says that the extra power produces copious amounts of wheel spin in first gear even at part throttle and when all is said and done the Vortech Z06 is only a few tenths faster in the quarter mile thanks to wheel spin, but has a ten mph faster trap speed. Via Motor Trend
