Sony announces the VRD-MC5 DVD writer for stand-alone movie DVD making direct from your camcorder.
The Sony VRD-MC5 supports hi-Vision resolution video that you can record with the Sony HDR-SR7, HDR-SR8 and HDR-CX7. The burner is connecting via USB cable.
It also has card slots (SD card, Memory stick, etc.) to transfer video or photos onto the DVD writer. The interface of the VRD-MC5 is displayed on a small 2.5 inch color screen.
The MSRP of the Sony DVDirect product is 30,000 yen (~246). The release fo the VRD-MC5 is in August in Japan.
