As reported the Sony PS3 firmware 1.80 enables the PS3 to upscale games and DVD movies to 1080p. We did some testing in regards to the PS3 upscaling quality of movies. IGN published now a report comparing the quality of upscaled games with the various available settings.
They tested various PSone and PS2 games and created screenshots that show the difference between normal and upscaled.Upscaling has its cost. The images get fuzzy. So it is more an issue of personal preference which aspect of image quality is more important.
