HP buys Marc Andreessen's Opsware for $1.6 billion
 
 

HP today announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to purchase Opsware Inc. for 1.6 billion.

Opsware Inc. is a data center automation software company.
Marc Andreessen is Chairman and co-founder of Opsware Inc., You might remember Marc Andreessen; he created the Mosaic Web browser and co-founded Netscape. Combining Opsware's solutions with HP's enterprise IT management software will deliver a comprehensive and fully integrated solution for IT automation. Opsware is the latest in a series of strategic software acquisitions, including Mercury Interactive and Peregrine Systems, which expands HP's leadership in BTO.
