IOGEAR Announces Receipt of USB-IF cert for Wireless USB Hub & Adapter Kit

IOGEAR announced today that they are one of the first vendors to receive Wireless USB certification by the USB-IF and FCC certification for an end-user solution. The product is the IOGEAR USB Hub & Adapter kit which is a Certified Wireless USB product guaranteed to be compatible with wired use devices.

The FCC certification of the device ensures that there will be no interference with other wireless signals in the home. The IOGEAR wireless USB Hub & adapter kit uses Alereon’s PHY chip set and Intel’s Wireless UWB Link controller. IOGEAR’s wireless solution allows for high-speed wireless connectivity to existing wired USB devices like printers, scanners, MP3 players and external hard drives.

"We're pleased to see products like IOGEAR's Wireless USB Hub & Adapter Kit that received certification by the USB-IF," said Jeff Ravencraft, USB-IF president. "These products are essential when introducing a new technology like Certified Wireless USB to the market. End-users can be assured that when they purchase Certified Wireless USB products, by looking for the Certified Wireless USB logo, they will interoperate with future Certified Wireless USB products." There is no word on when the product will come to market or what the price will be at this time.
