Last week I wrote about the new MSI GX600 gaming notebook that was launched. At Quakecon yesterday MSI had the computer in their booth showing it off. I had a chance to play with it a bit and was generally impressed with what I saw.
One thing that I came away with is that the MX600 is a large notebook weighting in at about 5.7 pounds. It was also rather thick for a 15.4” notebook machine. The keyboard was nice and had good typing feel. MSI used a different font on the WASD keys normally used for movement in FPS games.
The big thing you notice when you see the MX600 in person is the glossy black paint job. This thing is way shiny and looks great with the red/orange graphics on the lid and the wrist rest area. The one thing I can say about that glossy paint job is that the machine soaks up fingerprints and smudges profusely. If that sort of thing bothers you, this isn’t the notebook for you.
