Amazon.com started to offer the highly anticipated and not officially released Canon 40D and Canon 1Ds Mark III SLR cameras for pre-order.

Canon officially announced the Canon 40D
The 10.1MP Canon 40D (body only) will sell for $1,299.99 and start shipping on September 20th. With the EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Standard Zoom Lens the 40D has a price of $1,499.99 (pre-order).
Other features of the Canon 40D include a large 3 inch screen, DIGIC III image processor, 6.5 frame-per-second (fps) continuous shooting capability, sRAW mode, 35-zone metering system and integrated Self-Cleaning Sensor Unit.

The Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III already ships on September 10th for a $7,999.99 (Pre-Order). Obviously the EOS 1DS Mark III is for professionals.
Features of the EOS 1Ds Mark III include a huge 21.1MP resolution, Large 3.0-inch LCD display with Live View and seven brightness settings, 5 fps at shutter speeds 1/500 second or faster, sRAW mode, 35-zone metering system, 45-point AF and integrated Self-Cleaning Sensor Unit.
