In addition to the other Canon new product announcements today, Canon also announced a pair of photo printers called the PIXMA iP4500 and the PIXMA iP3500. The iP4500 has 9600 x 2400 dpi print resolution and uses five smart LED equipped ink tanks in a new print head called the Canon FINE print head.
The printer can out 31ppm in black and 24 ppm in color. The time to print a 4 x 6 color photo is 21 seconds. The printer also has built-in duplexing for double sided prints and documents. The MSRP for the iP4500 is $129.99.
The second photo printer is the PIXMA iP3500, which has a print resolution of 4800 x 1200 and uses the same LED equipped ink tanks. Print speed is 25ppm in black and 17ppm in color. Print time for a 4 x 6 borderless print is 47 seconds. The MSRP for the printer is $99.99.
