Sharp unveiled an ultra-thin LCD panel prototype today.
The 52 inch LCD Panel is only 20mm thin and has a cool 100,000:1 contrast ratio.
The weight of the new 52 inch LCD panel is 25kg.
We still have to wait until 2010 for Sharp to begin placing this new thin LCD panel into TVs. As the image above shows, Sharp gets creative on new TV concepts.
OLED based TVs are also ultra-thin, but do not yet reach 50 inch sizes. That could change between now and 2010 though. Possibly by then Laser TV sets may have taken over anyway.
