Epson announced a new photo scanner today aimed at the advanced amateur and creative consumer. The scanner is called the Epson Perfection V500 Photo color scanner. At 6400 dpi the scanner allows for quality enlargements at a price of $249.99.
Epson uses ReadyScan LED technology rather than the fluorescent tech in most scanners. The LEDs allow for faster start times and faster scan times. The scanner also has 48-bit color depth and a 3.4 dynamic range.
The ReadyScan technology also adjusts the color of the LED light source depending on the type of original being scanned. Digital ICE and Epson Easy Photo Fix software are included as well.
