Audiophiles are a strange lot to me, willing to pay much more for the privilege of hearing things on their CDs that most of us don’t care about. Bryston has a new hand assembled Redbook CD player called the BCD-1.
The BCD-1 was built using fully discrete Class-A analog circuitry and a 192K/24Bit Crystal DAC. Bryston says that the CS4398 DAC is an advanced generating chip that uses several conversion methods to optimize processing.
Power is carefully regulated to reduce jitter, noise and distortion. All these high-end parts and the hand built nature of the BCD-1 make for a product that’s not cheap. The MSRP for this CD player is $2395.
