I’m a big fan of remote controlled stuff and when you combine remote control with lasers, you really have my attention. Hammacher has a pair of RC cars that use IR lasers to battle it out for vehicular supremacy.
If you don’t have a second driver available for some car combat you can put the cars into AI mode that enables a single player to battle with the second car being controlled by a micro processor. The cars use digital proportional control for easy movement.
You can turn the cars left, right and move forward and back. In addition, a function allows you to spin the car in a circle for rapid target acquisition. The fight lasts until one car is zapped ten times and you can put up shields that protect the car from laser fire for five seconds. Each car is powered by six AA batteries and one 9V battery for the control. The MSRP is $99.95 and Hammacher shows they will be available on October 1.
