Sprint announced the addition of the Novatel 2-in1 Wireless USB modem to their line today. The Ovation U727 modem has an integrated microSD card slot that allows the USB modem to function as a flash drive with up to 4GB of storage space.
On-board memory allows the U727 to install without needing a CD, you simply need to insert the modem and allow the software to self-install and click activate on windows machines. The U727 is compatible with Windows Vista, XP, 2000 and Mac OS and Linux OS machines with a USB interface.
The modem measures in at 2.76” x 0.98” x 0.47” and weighs 1.13 ounces. The device operates on dual bands of CDMA 1900 and 800 MHz. speeds of up to 3.1Mbps are supported providing average upload speeds of 350-500Kbps and downloads of 1.8Mbps. The device will be available next month for an MSRP of $279.99 or $79.99 with a 2-year agreement.
