News site MSNBC has never bought a company before. Today they announced that they have acquired Newsvine - a social news site.
With Newsvine MSNBC gets a community service to leverage citizen journalism.
The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Newsvine will continue operating independently, just as it has since launching in March of 2006.
