Sony has already officially announced the lower cost 40GB Sony PS3 in Europe and other PAL regions last week. The 40GB PS3 begins shipping on Wednesday October 10th. UK customers can order one right now on Amazon UK for £299.99.
When Sony will officially introduce the 40GB Sony PS3 in the United States is still not known. We already reported the rumors stating a Thanksgiving launch date and a November 16th release date.
Now the latest guess from the Hollywood Reporter (via Gamedaily) is November 2nd.
The only safe bet right now is that the $399 PS3 is coming for sure, it just a matter of when.
Japan has not yet had an official announcement for a 40GB Sony PS3 either.
