Today Asus updated their eee PC site and published a new naming scheme and new configurations for the upcoming highly anticipated eee PC low-cost notebooks.
Update:
Asus Eee PC 8G ships!
Update:
Asus Eee PC ships from NewEgg
Update:
Asus Eee PC Pricing Official
There are four eee PCs you can choose from. The xG refers to the size of the SSD size. The new top model is the Asus eee PC 8G featuring 8GB of SSD storage and 1GB of RAM.
The Eee PC 8G and the Eee PC 4G have also a better battery (3.5h) than the Eee PC 4G and 2G Surf (2.8h). See the table below for the specifications of the Asus Eee PC line-up.
All new Eee PCs are compatible with Linux and Windows XP. I suppose it is up to the retailer to offer pre-installed OS versions.
The Asus Eee PC 8G definitely looks good. Now it is just a question of the price. I hope Asus is not screwing up their opportunity to land a major hit with the Asus Eee PC.
See also our original Asus Eee PC report. The Asus Eee PC is supposed to ship at the end of this month. Pricing is still unclear, especially now that we have four models to choose from. In our latest Eee PC story from last week Asus named Newegg and Best Buy as retailers for the Eee PC.
