Vuzix received two 2008 International CES Innovations Design and Engineering awards for the upcoming Vuzix VR920-X and LV920-1 video glasses.
Vuzix was formerly known as Icuiti. The company changed the name in September. Earlier this year we did a hot Gadget Model shoot with one of their HMDs when they were still Icuiti.
The Vuzix VR920-X iWear are specifically for the XBOX 360 gaming console. This HMD allows the user to enter a 3-D gaming world with an integrated 360 degree of freedom head-tracker The VR920-X will be available in January 2008.
I assume the VR920-X will be similar to the already available VR920 glasses, but comes bundled with the Xbox 360 compatible headtracker.
The LV920-1 video glasses are that are aimed at helping patients with low vision. It provides patients with macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinitis pigmentosa and other low vision diseases the ability to read and watch television. The technology improves vision in patients with as much as 85% occlusion in both eyes. The product will be available in December.
