Any sports car fan who thinks about the most desirable American sports cars from the late 1980’s and early 1990’s will probably think of the Corvette ZR1. GM has announced that it will bring the Corvette ZR1 back to the streets in 2009.

If you are wondering how the ZR1 will differ from the Z06 the answer is considerable. The ZR1 will get its power from a supercharged LS9 engine displacing 6.2L rated at 620HP and 595 lb-ft of torque.

GM expects the 2009 ZR1 to be the first production corvette ever to have a top speed of at least 200mph. There is no word on the pricing for the 2009 ZR1, but it won’t be cheap.
