LG announces at the CES 2008 the PG60, single-layer (frameless) plasma TV.
Frameless is a bit misleading. What it actually means is that the glass layer is going across the whole TV. Definitely a nice design, but under the glass is still a visible frame. It would be really cool if the video image would be displayed framelessly. I guess we still have to wait a couple of CES shows for that to happen.
The LG PG60 boasts a very high contrast ratio of 30,000:1, which is the industry’s highest actually.
This contrast ratio enables better black levels than ever before, which are further enhanced by its Dual XD engine.
The TV also has Full HD capabilities and Fluid Motion technology that displays images much faster than 180Hz. The PG60 includes LG’s Invisible Speaker with upgraded sound quality and wider sweet spot.
LG is also showing a new LCD HDTV LG60 at the CES 2008, which is just 45 mm deep.
The LG LG60 features a full HD 120Hz panel, intelligent sensor to automatically adjusts brightness, and LG’s Invisible Speakers.
LG also says that the new LG70 and PG70 offer full HD wireless data streaming.
CES 2008 will officially start on January 7th, but the first event is already on Saturday. We are in Las Vegas and will be covering the CES 2008 first hand.
