Volkswagen of America, Inc. announces the
the all-new CC, a new coupe with sedan access and functionality at the NAIAS 2008 in Detroit.
The Passat CC will come standard in the U.S. with the 2.0 TSI engine
with 200 horsepower and 207 lbs.-ft of torque, available with either a
six-speed manual or six-speed Tiptronic transmission. Available optionally
is the 3.6L FSI, rated at 280 horsepower and 266 lbs.-ft of torque. The
3.6L FSI comes standard with the six-speed Tiptronic transmission.
With an unmistakable front-end, the grille sports two cross-struts and
a centrally placed Volkswagen logo between trapezoidal headlamps. In the
lower area, three large air inlets and integrated turn signals and fog
lights dominate the visual image. The lower air inlets are formed by a
sporty spoiler that optimizes the high speed downforce. An indicator of the
CC's excellent overall aerodynamic qualities is its drag coefficient of cw
0.29.
The CC will be available for the U.S. market in the fourth quarter of
2008.
