BYD plans to start selling the F6DM plug-in hybrid sedan for about $25k in China this year.
The BYD F6DM drive train is a combination of a 1l four cylinder gasoline engine with 68hp and a 100hp electric motor. The range on batteries is apparently 62miles in hybrid mode its 205miles.
The battery technology is based on iron phosphate enhanced Li-ion battery.
The battery has a current capacity of 60Ah and is guaranteed for 2,000 recharges.

The editor at Jalopnik already enjoyed a test drive of the BYD F6DM inside the Detroit Auto Show halls with the chairman of BYD, fun story to read.
New technologies like plug-in hybrids allow new players to enter the market. Since the whole green movement took over the car industry several new ventures sprung up to compete with the established car makers; e.g.: Tesla Motors or Fisker Motors.
