Lexar and Crucial rolled out new FBDIMM memory modules today for the server market. Servers typically require fully buffered RAM to operate and to meet this demand Crucial has released new 800MHz FBDIMM modules.
The modules will be available in 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB kits. Crucial backs the FBDIMM modules with a limited lifetime warranty. Crucial says the RAM is available at an “affordable” price but doesn’t specify and actual selling price for the memory.
"The new 800MHz FBDIMM modules feature density and performance improvements ideal for mission-critical servers and workstations which require maximum performance and a low error rate, without sacrificing the reliability Crucial products are known for throughout the industry," stated Jim Jardine, Lexar Media's senior product marketing manager. "Mac users will also enjoy the same module density increases, performance boosts and reliability with the new 800MHz FBDIMM modules, including modules designed specifically for the new Mac Pro."
