RCA Lyra X3000 20GB PMP Ships

RCA introduced the Lyra X3000 portable media player at the CES 2006.

It was actually to ship right away in January back then. Yesterday PC Magazine published a review of RCA Lyra X3000, so I checked where it is available for purchase. Looks like Wal-mart has currently an exclusive on the RCA X3000. The new RCA PMP sells for $388.87.

RCA was one of the first to get into the portable video player game with the RCA Lyra RD2870.
The new Lyra X3000 features a 3.6 inch QVGA screen and supports Microsoft's PlaysForSure. Unlike the RD2870 the X3000 is also able to record video. PC Magazine's review gives it a good rating, but mostly for its design and not for its performance. The bundled Sennheiser earbuds are a plus. That the X3000 only has a 20GB HDD is a bit backward.
