Voice Controlled PDA for the Car

|
The USA is on the verge of forbidding the use of cell-phones while driving. In Europe its already forbidden in most countries. So the need of hands-free installation will be huge. Delphi Automotive Systems goes already a step further and offers a voice driven system for the use of a Palm V in the car. A special cradle the Communiport MPCpro is taking voice commands in plain english and is executing functions on the Palm V. The device can read back the drivers todo-list, emails and more. If connected to a Ericsson R280 or 1228D phone the system is dailing automatically numbers which are stored in the Palm address book on saying the name of the person.
A start-up called MobileAria, is providing online services over this setup, so while driving, the device can read news, financial information etc. to the driver.
Communiport MPCpro sells for 349USD on the Delphi Automotive Site. It only works with above mentioned Palm PDA and Ericsson phones.
