Asus Unveils New Ares II Video Card at CES

Asus has rolled out a new limited edition AMD Radeon graphics card. The video card is the ROG Ares II and has dual AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz edition GPUs. The video card also has 6 GB of GDDR5 memory and features a special liquid/air cooling system. The video card also supports a bundled ROG Edition GPU Tweak utility allowing users to easily overclock the card for improved performance.

The air and liquid combination cooling system promises to make the card up to 31°C cooler when operating than similar video cards. The video card uses a dual slot height design allowing it to fit inside most computer cases. The card does have significant power requirements needing three 6-pin power connectors.

The base clock for video card is 1050 MHz with the base memory clock at 1650 MHz. The card supports resolutions of up to 2560 x 1600. The card can also be paired with the second version placing four GPU's inside a single computer. The card requires a minimum power supply of 850 W and has a pair of DVI outputs and for native DisplayPorts. Pricing and availability are unknown.
