Sony Xperia Tablet Z is almost 30% thinner than iPad

Sony just landed a very cool tablet with the Sony Xperia Tablet Z. The Xperia Tablet Z is dramatically thinner and lighter than the Apple iPad (9.4mm, 652g). Apple now has a tablet to beat with the iPad 5 with the Xperia Z.

The 6.9mm thin Xperia Z has more to offer than just thinness and lightness (495g). It also is dust and water resistant (IP55 & IP57). The display has full HD resolution with 1920x1200p.

The new Sony Tablet is powered by a SnapDragon S4 CPU at 1.5GHz. Other specs include 2GB RAM, NFC, IR remote, 8MP rear camera and S-Force 3D Sound.

The Sony Xperia Tablet Z is available in 16 GB and 32 GB versions and will be sold at Sony Stores, including online, and other authorized dealers nationwide for about $499 and $599 respectively this Spring. A white 32 GB version will be available exclusively at Sony Stores, including online.

About the Geek Mind

The “geek mind” is concerned with more than just the latest iPhone rumors, or which company will win the gaming console wars. I4U is concerned with more than just the latest photo shoot or other celebrity gossip.

The “geek mind” is concerned with life, in all its different forms and facets. The geek mind wants to know about societal and financial issues, both abroad and at home. If a Fortune 500 decides to raise their minimum wage, or any high priority news, the geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants to know the top teams in the National Football League, or who’s likely to win the NBA Finals this coming year. The geek mind wants to know who the hottest new models are, or whether the newest blockbuster movie is worth seeing. The geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants—needs—knowledge.
