The horse meat scandal has reached even IKEA. The removed the meatballs from restaurants in Europe today. German scientists have the weapon of choice to protect us against eating horse or even crocodile meat.
The laser gun can identify most popular meats like pork, beef and chicken. The team led by Dr.-Ing. Heinz-Detlef Kronfeldt also enhanced the technology to detect exotic meat like camel, python and crocodile. The technology was originally invented to detect the freshness of meat and is based on laser spectroscopy.
The meat detecting laser pistol is still just a prototype, but maybe in the near future we will shot at our steak before we eat it to make sure its beef and not snake.
