Sometime this year Microsoft will unveil the new Xbox 720 aka Durango. Leaked information and rumors say that the new Xbox requires games to be installed on the HDD and that the box is always online. Games would need to be activated online.
Some leaked information suggests that you would not be able to sell used games. This would be a major sales blocker as games cost a small fortune ($60). If gamers cannot trade used games to recoup some of the cost, they will not by the Xbox 720.
A game activation system that prevents used game sales would require cutting the cost of games by at least 50%.
I expect though, that Microsoft will not change the current system. So keep cool and look forward to what the new Xbox 720 will offer.
