Sony Xperia Tablet Z pre-orders now available in the U.S.

Sony has announced that its flagship tablet, the Xperia Tablet Z, is now available for pre-order in the U.S. For doubters who are yet to be convinced, Sony is giving away a free cradle for those who are buying the white model of the 32GB Android 4.1 tablet. For some reason, Sony isn't offering the freebie to the black variant. Customers can expect their orders to arrive as early as May 24. Pricing starts at $499 for the 16GB model, and $599 for the much larger 32GB Xperia Tablet Z.

For starters, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z sports a 10.1-inch WUXGA display with a 1920 x 1200 resolution and an 8.1-megapixel Exmor R camera. Under the hood is a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and a 2GB RAM. NFC-support and a microSD card slot are a big plus. But probably the main selling point here is its thin design at 0.27-inches and water-resistant capabilities.
