Google has announced today to deploy super speed Google Fiber internet and TV in Shawnee near Kansas City, USA. This has also been confirmed by council of Shawnee City on Thursday in a special city council meeting. Council headed by Mayor Jeff Meyers announced about the voting result to allow their citizens access to world’s fastest fiber internet service.
It is a unique project of Google Fiber to lead the world of internet with super one gigabit per second upload and download capacity. Google Fiber Community will consist of 1100 communities in the start as trial implementation of the project starting from Kansas, United States.
Shawnee City is situated right outside of Kansas City and famous as a business hub in states. City community is visionary to offer their citizens avail the latest technological advancements. Community has recently updated their website to offer all the relevant information available on website. Even the community meetings can be heard from their website.
Google Fiber trial project is a good lead to experiment with the best internet fiber speed technologies and their effect on local communities starting from Shawnee city. Still enough time is required to get it working with lot of pending engineering and technical work to go on.
Google Fiber Community team announced the launch of Google Fiber on its official blog written by Fiber Community Manager Rachel Hack. Yet the signing process is not complete. Shawnee will be 5th county after signing procedure is done. Google team is looking for a contract with the local electrical supplier companies and authorities for not tapping their construction work when it is started. Still there is not sign that internet giant will look for tax cuts and subsidies from states government.
Google will launch the setup after finalization of the infrastructure that is expected to be completed in July 2012. The price structure is not final yet but expected to be around $70 per month provided with 1 GB internet. Television services will also be provided from around $120 per month and will be charged separately from internet. The consumer will have the option to choose service options.
City Mayor Jeff Meyers expressed in meeting that small population of 63,000 soon will have access to the digital resources on fastest internet connection of the world. Such pace of technological progress will provide an edge to city over other cities but launch time of Google Fiber is not confirmed.
