BlackBerry 10.1 update now available for the BlackBerry Z10

BlackBerry did not stop with the keyboard-touting Q5, it also announced the release of BlackBerry 10.1, an update to the company's new mobile operating system, which is now available via OTA update for all BlackBerry Z10 smartphones. BlackBerry CEO and President Thorsten Heins made the announcement onstage at the BlackBerry Live conference in Orlando today. So, what can we expect from the update?

First is the improved notifications. BlackBerry 10.1 now lets users personalize the notifcations for their contacts and accounts, as well as ringtones, vibration, and lights. Also, the update now makes it easier to pinpoint exactly where users want to type. BlackBerry has also managed to improve the BlackBerry Hub as well as the camera. Expect BlackBerry 10.1 to be available via OTA beginning today. Others might get it late though, as the update is pretty much dependent on carrier partners.
