Microsoft 'Windows Blue' will be called 'Windows 8.1' with a Free Upgrade

Microsoft officially changed name of Windows 'Blue' to '8.1'. Microsoft planned long ago to bring out the experience of Surface OS to public innovating technology. The on-screen keyboard slowly becoming the sole option with new improved displays and Windows 8 touch technology. A free update of Windows 8.1 will be available for current Windows 8 users.

Microsoft has confirmed to release free upgrade under brand name “Windows 8.1”. It was first called Windows Blue. But from now onward, Windows Blue will be called Windows 8.1. The announcement was made by Tami Reller in JP Morgan’s Technology, Media & Telecom Conference held on Tuesday in Boston. He is the chief financial Officer and chief marketing officer of Windows Operating Systems. Every project under development in beta testing is always given a code name in Microsoft territory. When it is ready to pack, an official build number and name is assigned.

Code Name and Release Date
As said by Tami, 8.1 updated build will be made available on 26th June 2013. It will be freely available to all. Free mean the existing Windows 8 license holders can avail it. But those users, who use any other OS, can use benefit from it after buying an original Windows 8 license. In previous press conferences and blog posts, company kept the secret about name and nature of new release. Many tech experts were expecting a heavy update or renewed OS under name Windows 9.

Company shares rose 45 cents after free launch update and last closing stock value was $33.25 on same day.
